About Judith
Growing up I loved art but certainly didn’t see it as a career. I became a software engineer out of college, met my husband, and built a career and family. After retiring in 2006 we moved our family to our cattle ranch in Wyoming where we lived for 12 wonderful (but hard working) years on the ranch. I ‘volunteered’ to teach high school computer science in our small town, built and owned a craft brewery, and have travelled many of the contents. As I’m reaching what most would consider normal retirement age, I find myself being called back again to my roots and my passion for creating.
Creating has always been a part of me, though. Software after all is a very creative endeavor. Teaching certainly requires constant creativity. And running a business takes a lot of inventiveness. But I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have all day to create ceramic and glass art. And now I have my own studio and the opportunity to do so. |
My style is all about movement and geometry (I guess the engineer in me still comes out sometimes).
As I think about my art, I realize that all of my experiences have influenced me. I prefer creating to consuming so everything is hand-built. My Jewish upbringing often leads me to create Judaic but functional pieces of art including menorahs I’d like to display year round. People who know me say I never sit still and that movement is essential to who I am. I am often easily distracted so some of my work mixes my two favorite mediums of clay and glass. |
