This hand thrown vessel is tri colored with tangerine and lime green crackle glazes. The black carbon was captured on the outside and bottom during the crash cooling and smoking process. The interior of this bowl is white crackle.
These raku bowls are brought from room temperature to 1750 F degrees in less than two hours and then cooled to room temperature in less than 30 minutes in the artists back yard. The white crackle glaze is hand mixed with her own formula, and the smoke is created with waste wood chips from a local Makerspace that would otherwise go to the trash.
This vessel is 6 1/4 inches wide, and 3 3/4 inches tall.
Notes:
Raku vessels, due to the crackle finishes are not considered food safe, as food particles could get caught in the tiny cracks. safe, dishwasher safe, nor microwave safe.
