Bi Colored Raku Bowl
This hand thrown bi colored raku bowl has tangerine and lime green crackle glaze, and black carbon captured on the outside during the crash cooling and smoking process. The interior of this bowl is white crackle. The bottom of the bowl also has captures carbon during the smoking and cooling process.
These raku bowls are brought from room temperature to 1750 F degrees in less than two hours and then cooled to room temperature in less than 30 minutes in the artists back yard. The white crackle glaze is hand mixed with her own formula, and the smoke is created with waste wood chips from a local Makerspace that would otherwise go to the trash.
Raku vessels, due to the crackle finishes are not considered food safe, as food particles could get caught in the tiny cracks.
This vessel measures 3 1/4" tall and 6 5/8" wide
